VPD’s business analysis team works with all manner of contracting data to provide both regular reports and ad hoc analysis as required by leadership ranging from the director level up to the C-Suite. Our COR Services team collects vendor invoicing data to track metrics like contract burn and contractor performance against the award. Our Strategic Sourcing team retrieves order level data to track spend and cost avoidance in support of efficiency metrics.
Our team transforms data in meaningful ways to provide analysis to Department of Commerce groups, such as the Acquisition Council, CIO Council, and various Review Boards. One such analysis is the biannual Opportunities Assessment – a comprehensive review of all Departmental Spend over a two-year period resulting in recommendations for new strategic contracts. Over the period of performance, the number of strategic contracts with Enterprise Services has grown from ten to 31 contracts. Cost avoidance has more than doubled, with the strategic sourcing contract now saving the Department over $105 million per year.
In addition to the COR Services and Strategic Sourcing programs, business analysts in support of Enterprise Services crunch the numbers to report PALT, customer satisfaction, and contract closeout metrics to leadership. These metrics continue to indicate that, of the Enterprise Services towers (Acquisition, IT, HR, Service Delivery, and Customer Experience), Acquisition continues to run the most efficient program, only missing targets when external events have impacted workload (i.e., government shutdowns, COVID response).
