Jim Burkart - Vice President, Growth and Business Development

Jim Burkart spent 15 years working in small business environments leading various multi-disciplinary client-facing and corporate teams, from program/project management to business development. Before transitioning his career to management consulting, Jim managed all aspects of a small manufacturing company. With a proven background in leading ambiguous, entrepreneurial situations, he has experience with various service delivery frameworks (e.g., PMBOK, ISO, SAFe, Lean). He has applied these frameworks consistently to improve client satisfaction and corporate performance. He has a demonstrated track record to drive organic growth, improve client satisfaction, win contract recompetes, facilitate new growth opportunities/projects, and identify and transition business needs into sustainable solutions. Jim has managed and worked with corporate and program budgets from designing and implementing SharePoint enabled tools to closeout grants for the DOT to conducting portfolio management for FAA’s $25B NextGen program to modernize the national airspace.

Jim leads VPD’s company-wide growth efforts, including capture, business development, proposal management, new corporate service development, and account planning.

​Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Administration from College of Charleston, South Carolina, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from George Mason University, Virginia. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a certified Leading Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) 4 Agilist.
